  1. I noticed a big change in the speed of my static pages, but none that I could notice in my dynamic pages. That could be attributed to my own setup. So, I did some further research. Seems like there is a 'new and improved' LiteSpeed since that article was written. Actually, there have been a LOT of new versions since that article! I could not find any very recent benchmark test results. But, here are some things that LiteSpeed does offer over Apache (many useful to me personally): LiteSpeed Apache Comparisons
  2. I will be interesting to see what others think about LiteSpeed vs Apache. I noticed a difference in my html documents (much faster load), but not seeing much of a difference in my more dyanimic pages. Does LiteSpeed use some form of caching that would do this?
  3. OK, passed my 24 hour mark and I already have a list of things to be grateful for: Move was relatively easy for me, not so great for MDD. MDD has a lady techie!! (two thumbs up) I was able to set my work directories back to a secured CHMOD state. My first newsletter through MDD is actually arriving to the users' inbox! (BIG plus for me) Several 'question' support tickets sent today, all responded to quickly, and resolved. A DDOS attack was tried and diverted by MDD. (***** I give that 5 out of 5 stars) OMG! I am going to go to bed for the first time in over two weeks feeling secured. All of those pluses in 24 hours is just amazing to me. Thank You MDD!!

    Shared SSL

I run a not for profit organization, so I have never done ecommerce on the web. Therefore, I have never even considered an SSL. The little that I have read about it, I believe it can be useful in non-eCommerce applications. So, I am just asking the users of this forum to tell me what they use MDD's shared SSL for (what types of applications). I would like to learn about this. Thanks for any info you can share.
  5. Ah, I have to totally second that. I switched over late last night. My DNS propagated about 3 this morning (Arizona time). And, my switchover was anything but easy for MDD. So far, I'm totally impressed. I had no slowup either. And, I came from a place that was down and up for days because of a DDOS attack. If this is what happens here at MDD, during an attack, I think I have found a home!! Big Thank You to Mike and Christine for a relatively smooth changeover.
  6. I have tried WebsiteBaker and loved it. Pretty simple to use and SEO friendly. The only difficulty I had was in updating pages/plugins and ownership permissions. If you load WB up as a package through the web interface, from that point on, all updates have to be done through the interface. And, let's face it, sometimes you want to add a 'quick' update or page and not go through admin crontrol panels. I have also used Drupal and Wordpress, but they both require too many plugins to become a worthwhile, and easy to use, website CMS. The more plugins or mods you have, the more you have a chance of messing up the core software. I have been trying to test the water with Joomla, but I think it is way too bloated and confusing for newcomers. WB was pretty easy to learn, but you better know some php. As soon as my website gets moved over, stabilized, and updated, I am going back to CMS package selection. I want to find something that will allow my forum users to add their own pages, so I don't have to keep moving their stories from the forums into static website pages. I want them to also be able to update those pages as they travel through their journey. So, it has to be real user friendly and simple. Looks pretty darn nice. But, is it bloated with code and db space? Yeow, this BB is different!
  7. Programmers Notepad 2 http://www.pnotepad.org/ Simple, but does the job.
