  1. Is there any advantage whatsoever to opening a support ticket? I'm losing money while my store is offline so it would be nice to get into a priority queue, if you have one. I think I'm on server NS1, but my info might be outdated. I don't want to make extra work for anybody if a ticket would be irrelevant at this point. I appreciate your open communication, I've been a satisfied customer for many years, and I won't hold this against you. But I sure would like to get my store back ASAP, and I'll need to know how old the database is.
  2. Thanks for the simple and clear answer. I look forward to using your autoinstaller for the first time when my cert comes up for renewal in November.
  3. (Cross posted from the Web Hosting forum, where it got no response.) PayPal sent me an email headlined "ACTION MAY BE REQUIRED: Important merchant integration upgrade information." It warns me "Because these changes are technical in nature, we advise that you consult with your partner, website vendor, or individuals responsible for your PayPal integration. They will be able to identify what, if any, changes are needed. If you do not have a technology team, we recommend you find one." I buy my SSL cert through MDD. I'm not technical enough to understand anything more than the fact that the tech requirements for SSL certs are changing. Specifically: Quote My browser's certificate viewer gives me just enough info to be concerned -- I see "PKCS #1 SHA-1 With RSA Encryption" So for starters my questions are: (1) Is this a server-level thing or does it affect my private SSL cert? and (2) do I need to replace my cert before it expires in November?
  4. Due to absence of replies I'm going to cross-post this in the Shared Hosting Support forum.

Hmm, I guess that means my web host since I buy my SSL cert through MDD. I'm not technical enough to understand anything more than that the tech requirements for SSL certs are changing. 6. I'm a retailer, not a developer, so please indulge my ignorance (and use small words if you reply). I received a frightening announcement from PayPal about the end of SSL 3 support as of Dec. 3. I've been assured that this has nothing to do with my SSL certificate, but rather with the communication protocol between my PHP shopping cart's PayPal module and PayPal's server. I was advised to find out if "whatever that PayPal module is using to connect to PayPal (my guess is CURL) will support an alternate connection protocol (like TLS)." That sounds like a server question to me, so I reckon that's what I'm asking. PayPal urged me to share their Merchant Response Guide with my "website service partner," which I interpret to include MDD. I would love to find out that I have nothing to worry about on Dec. 3, but since PayPal chose to shake this up during the busiest week of the year I can't take any chances. (I am also communicating with my shopping cart developer about their PayPal PHP modules).
  7. I just signed up for my merchant service provider to run PCI compliance scans on my website. Their signup blurb suggested notifying my web host. So do I need to open a ticket for that, or will this thread do it, or do you even need to know about it? My status is currently "pending approval" so I don't know when their scan will take place. (edit)...aaannnnd now "approved for scanning." Yay.
  8. A few minutes of downtime is trivial...I just need to avoid being offline for hours or days. I don't understand "choose php 5.3." Is that done through cPanel using your linked Apache Handler instructions?
  9. OK, they do have a version in ZendGuard format for php 5.3 and higher. If my developer upgrades my software now, before you switch the server over to 5.3, will that run properly? I guess I'm asking if php 5.3 and ZendGuard are already installed on my server. Trying to figure out if I need to coordinate my upgrade with yours, or if my developer can do it ahead of time.
  10. Michael, when I followed your instructions to test my site under php 5.3 by adding this to my .htaccess file: AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php I got this: Zend Optimizer not installed This file was encoded by the Zend Guard. In order to run it, please install the Zend Optimizer (available without charge), version 3.0.0 or later. Seeing this message instead of the website you expected? This means that this webserver is not configured correctly. In order to view this website properly, please contact the website's system administrator/webmaster with the following message: The component "Zend Optimizer" is not installed on the Web Server and therefore cannot service encoded files. Please download and install the Zend Optimizer (available without charge) on the Web Server. Note: Zend Technologies cannot resolve issues related to this message appearing on websites not belonging to Zend Technologies. Should I be worried? I think Sunshop is compatible with php 5.3 but would like to be 100% sure before the big changeover.
  11. I gather this is why realtime Google Analytics was showing 15 connections from Sammamish WA? They're gone now and all looks well.
  12. We ended up at MDD after two other hosts failed to live up to minimum expectations. We researched shared hosting plans very carefully when faced with moving our PHP e-commerce site (Sunshop) for a third time, and that research led us to MDD. An email exchange dispelled my reservations and the move went smoothly under adverse circumstances. Uptime in the three months since then has been 100% and the server is always fast and stable. It's so much better than our previous hosts that business has actually increased.
  13. I need a new host for my Sunshop PHP shopping cart. It's a smallish store with very modest traffic (100-200 visits/day), but my current host has shut me down for excessive CPU use -- apparently my PHP script is just more than they can handle. Would love some assurance from MDD or other PHP shopping cart users that this host can handle a moderate-sized ecommerce site and will not shut me down without warning.
