@Charles - if you wish to open a ticket we can restore one of your backups (that you have) to another server to get you back online if you wish.

@Mike, thanks for offering to do that but I will wait until Fresco comes back online.

MDD Hosting has backups in cases like this!!
They did this as part of their "business plan". They took the steps well before things went bad and not after.

For those of you that own a business and are getting "income" from them, you has well should have things setup
for cases like this as well. Create your own "off-site" backups, failover DNS, etc...

Issues like this can and DO happen all the time every single day.

What matters is how the host handles things like this. Mike has posted SEVERAL updates as to what is going on along with the progress and that is way more than what most hosts do!!

I am also on Fresco, granted it is not a business I do have weekly backups based on how often I update my site. If I were to update my site more often, I would have backups created more often.

Also, all my backups are off-site. It would be stupid to created backups that stay on the same account that you just backed up. It would serve no use and is pointless.

I saw this and it made me laugh. Not what you are using but the words you are using. I work with people from India and they always say that in their emails.

I just thought it was funny how i saw this phrase outside of work.

If your issue is not resolved already, add a message in the ticket asking for an update.

Mike has went above and beyond to keep everyone informed of what was going on along with the status of the restore. Not many hosts would provide updates as often as Mike has.

There are even some hosts that claim to have backups but when it comes right down to it, they have backups that are over 2 weeks old or none at all!!!

Mike thanks for keeping everyone updated and for having backups like you do.

Hi everyone at MDD,

Firstly, yet another happy customer. Everything works well, the open attitude in the forums is fantastic...all round applause. I'll be submitting some happy reviews around the place once I've been with you for a few months, very optimistic about it at the moment!

A quick question about whether you're happy with an installation of Git on the semi-dedicated hosting package? Details are at http://git-scm.com/ and http://joemaller.com...-a-shared-host/ . The second link is a daemon-free version. Requirements are GCC and shell access for the install, and I'd like to do the courtesy of checking whether the software is something you're happy with! I don't foresee any issues, but a quick read of Google says that some shared hosts don't allow it. I think these are instances where hosts tend to overpopulate servers, however.

Since this Git doesn't require a daemon, could this be packaged up and added to cPanel to install?
