  1. Lots of sites (like, even my Senator and Representative) use no-reply email addresses to send information to their clients. A response or direct email sent to the address yields a bounce response stating something to the effect of “This is an unmonitored email address.” I haven’t found how to do this. I would think it’s via filtering, but beyond that, I’m truly stumped. Suggestion?
  2. To follow up on this, Mike, many of us may share the concerns that EFF has expressed for the privacy of email services worldwide. A concern involves such things as warrantless government searches. See this article: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2018/04/protecting-email-privacy-battle-we-need-keep-fighting How does MDDhosting stand on such ideas as regards the privacy and security of email services we may acquire through our hosted websites, using MDDhosting email servers?
  3. I used to funnel all emails through Gmail. I found it more useful to me to grab them separately with my current (default) email client, Spark. Ive set up accounts for each of my four email addresses sos I can clearly and immediately see to which an email was directed. Now, for that. Two of them are Gmail accounts (as you know, powerful Spam filtering). The other two go through SpamAssassin accounts. (All have imap connections on iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS.) First, if SpamAssassin marks a message as Spam, does it go to client Spam? Second, if I add a filter to mark SpamAssassin addresses as Spam (i.e., move them to the Spam folder), will the client see them as Spam? Or will they, simply, stay inaccessible and invisible by the client on the SpamAssassin server? I guess, part of the question is, do SpamAssassin rules get applied before forwarding takes place?
  4. I want two simple things for my website content. Call it, sitename.com. (FWIW I have "Let's Encrypt" set up.) I want: (1) When someone enters the names, in a browser, sitename.com or http://sitename.comor https://sitename.com, they should reach my content, and "sitename.com" or "https://sitename.com" should appear in the browser address as the result. (2) When someone enters the names, in a browser, www.sitename.com or http://www.sitename.comor https://www.sitename.com the same result should occur as I have described in (1). Can this be as well accomplished in cPanel Redirects as it can my fiddling with my .htaccess file? And would it be better to do one or the other?
  5. I have seen posts on other host forums describing such a thing. They say it is possible but with dire warnings about name length and its impact on the file and database structure, and other implications. Is it indeed possible to change this name without getting into deeperdoodoo?
  6. I have a Wordpress blog hosted on an mddhosting shared server: apfwebs.com. Of course, the simplest manner in which to publish blog content is to use the browser, go to wp-admin, and add a post. Alternatively, the Wordpress app allows easy access: just provide the wpxadmin URL, username, and password. Aside from the Wordpress app, though, Ive tried, and failed, with ByWord. To establish a publishing connection, again, I offer URL, username, and password. But I get the message Wordpress XML-RPC interface not found. Confirm that the given address points to a Wordpress blog. Why one app should offer this error, and not the other app, has me puzzled. Suggestions?
  7. I have looked in my Account settings (and in cPanel, understandably inappropriate) and cant find this. All account holders should probably have it. My financial advisor told me to make sure I do, everywhere. Google offers it in Gmail account settings. Here it is. Who may I specify is authorized to possess my account upon my death? In my case it would be a rather simple thing: my wifes email address is a gmail address. Hers happens to be an add-on domain within my site, and she would need to go through whatever contortions it takes to make hers the main domain for the account. (Those contortions are likely off-topic.) How may I simply, tell MDDhosting, that without question, she is authorized to take the reins should I get run over by a semi or get struck stoopid by a breathtaking stroke?
  8. Ive set up an account on iOS using my MDD-hosted mail server addresses (IMAP connection). Its working fine. One cosmetic oddity, no doubt my bad. Please train me. In the iOS Mail app I see *two* folders displayed, both named Junk. FWIW, one has the usual Junk icon, that being, a tray with an X; and the other has the generic folder icon. I logged into my email on cPanel and see no odd setup, though Id be glad to place one if thatd make a cosmetic difference. Any hints as to what might be going on?
  9. My webmail is currently set up with roundcube. My filters are set up via cPanel. I rarely use webmail, though: I funnel email down to my Apple mail app through an iMap connection. If I switch from roundcube to horde, would filters I set up in horde affect the email I see in my iMap connection, or do those filters affectmonly what is visible when I login to horde?
  10. Still s1. Now ALL 3 online. Note to all reading, it is very important to refresh yer browsers cache so it doesnt keep displaying the danged error page. I forgot for about a half hour this morning and was growling. To MDD: much gratitude, and I hope youll get some sleep and then some breakfast green chile enchiladas with egg soon.
  11. Thanks for the estimates. (I don’t know your time zone: maybe the same as my MDT). I know you’re swamped with tickets, so I won’t open one. I’m on s1 and I see ftp is already available and one of my add-ons (oddly enough) is online but my main domain and the other add-on are getting IP errors. An oddity, TBS. I’ll wait it out… Good luck, folks.
  12. Please understand, no gripe, just tinfoil hat, okay? 5:12PM MDT and my Wordpress blog (plus two addon sites) are still down. I have full backups for the addons, no problem. For the Wordpress database, blog entries dating back 15 years, I’m nervous that (*if* they’re restored) I shouldn’t also “backup” a blind copy to my “secret” Wordpress.com site. Else I can’t imagine how to maintain an off-host backup. Ah, well, thanks so much for keeping us up to date pards. I’m sure you know it’s painful for us and I know it’s painful as well for you. I’m sorry my email of sympathy and gratitude generated a ticket. Unintended. Live long and prosper.
