  1. You need to sign up at the following link. https://www.mddhosting.com/support/affiliates.php Just log in with your client log in. Or create a new account.
  2. I was just going to say going with an 8 drive array would allow for more space. Such as going with a raid array of 4 or 8 600gig SAS drives. Granted the price might need to go up. But really if someone needs 10 to 20 gigs of storage the price might need to go up according. And if you 30 plus your probably looking at VPS territory. I was thinking maybe its time to bump up semi dedicated pricing to 40-60 from the current 20-30. Its currently a steal and really if people need a lot of resources and a lot of space they are going to have to pay for it. It seems like a waste to only offering a few gigs of space for people who need a lot of resources. I would argue that 40-60 dollars is still a good deal if that can include 10-20 gigs of space or at least more than 5. That might also allow for a lower server populations. That would allowing keeping the older sever up for those that didn't want to move. And not short new members or put MDD in the poor house for eating excessive costs. I don't know if a lot of people know but MDDs pricing for semi dedicated is lower than most offerings out there. Granted some offer lower sever populations but you sure do pay for it. last time I checked it wasn't out of the norm to see 100 bucks plus for a very large semi dedicated plan. That I think puts things in prospective a bit.
  3. Mike should be able to give a more specific answer. But for MDD hosting servers as they currently are 5 is not a high sever load. Sever load is really complicated and I'll be honest I don't fully understand. But neither do most people. For the most part a low load sever can still be slow and a high load sever can still be fast. In general sever load of 1 and below per core is acceptable. So any load of 16 or less at MDD should be fine. Because current the severs are all dual quad Xeon 5620's. Which show in sever as 16 cores. Most also consider trying to keep the server load under 0.75 so for MDD that would be a load of 12. So pretty much 12-16 is fine and anything below that shouldn't cause any worries. But getting back to your question. I wouldn't set that function in your forum software. Mostly because your not on a VPS or Dedicated sever and that function is more to keep the sever from being brought down by one site. MDD is using Cloud Linux which helps to control server load you don't really need to worry about it. Unless MDD tells you using too many resources. But if still want to set it, I would set it no lowerr than 20 and probably at 30 or higher. As you don't want your forum to turn away members if there is a small spike. No, I think she is means 5 as in the server load number.
  4. Just to expand on what Mike said. And he is right its super easy. Paypal draws money from your paypal account and if need your back up bank account. So say you don't have enough in your paypal your bank account will be charged what ever is needed. You can also limit the pull from your bank account. I think the limit for how much can be taken is like 1000 from the bank account and 2000 from your paypal account. So its a 3k a day limit. If I remember correctly.
  5. How will this effect the install of Litespeed? As there seems to have been a lot of issues with cloud Linux. Even thought Litespeed supports it.
  6. If I remember correctly mike has been using Ksplice. But not all updates can be done this way. I can only guess the updates where not simply patches and as such needed to be rebooted.
  7. Nice, my question is where to do you upload this to (I would assume home directly)? and what do you need to name it? backup.php or something different.
  8. Running a forum is not easy. Honestly I think people have a better chance of success hosting anything other than a forum. I'm starting to wonder if forums are on the way out? Forums just don't seem sustainable anymore. Of course those folks who have successful forums or have been around a long time and have been lucky accuse others of not working hard enough What dose everyone think? Are forums just too fair behind the times? is it worth it to run a forum anymore?
  9. I came across this software after looking at webbycart's remote back up. This seems like an interesting script. Probably based on the WMH back up script floating around. The question for me is can your restore using this script. It sounds like its not possible and you still have to log in into your remote provider and do it manually. Seems like a good option though. http://www.whmeasybackup.com/ Thoughts? is anyone willing to try this?
  10. Mike did you make any headroom with Comcast? If not good luck. Comcast had been horrible to deal with. I've had problems with Comcast over various issues. From router issues caused by comcast's updates, long service outages and overall polite but incompetent support. Are you getting billed incorrectly. Sorry for not posting this earlier but I've been having computer problems.
  11. Thanks Mike. I just tested mine out yesterday. Just a mundane store trip. But it worked so it seems my troubles Paypal are for a while, over.
  12. Mike I have a question about the network quality and speeds. I can tell right now all of my traffic will go through Comcast (oh joy). And I'm curious how the rest of network preforms. The mix looks rather solid. I'm just curious if you feel the network is as solid as Softlayer's? I was also curious as how Dos/DDos and other attacks will be handled with the new provider. Do they have hardware devices in place (cisco gaurd, Riorey, Intrugaurd) ect. or is the individual provider to deal with? How will backups be handled? Is MDD also co locating a back up server? Or using another method for back ups? Thanks Mike.
  13. I doubt Mike minds. its actually good people are asking questions it helps everyone. Just think of all the folks reading these threads but don't want to ask a question for whatever reason. And those that do know its ok to do so and will ask their questions. Besides I don't think Mike would have left threads unlocked, if he had not intended to answer questions.
