I imagine it's no surprise that we try to stay informed about updates, security patches, and new vulnerabilities for many common scripts our clients use. As of late, we have been posting more of these type of announcements to our forums because we feel that it's good to help everyone stay informed about these important announcements. At the same time, we don't want to send too many notices to those who aren't interested in getting them... Especially since many webmasters will already have subscribed to similar notifications directly from the developers of any scripts they use. To that end, we have opened this new announcement forum specifically for update and vulnerability announcements. Starting today, any such announcements will be posted here. We strongly encourage you to subscribe to this forum (with immediate or daily notifications) if you would like to be notified about new announcements we make regarding updates and vulnerabilities to third party scripts. We may continue to post links to this forum on Twitter and Facebook, but subscribing to this forum directly is still suggested.

So what will we try to post:

  • Information about important security updates to common scripts.
  • Information about new vulnerabilities being used against common scripts, and mitigation instructions if we have them.

Will we announce every update or vulnerability to every script, the instant it is announced by its developer? No. Maintaining this forum is something our senior staff does manually when something comes to our attention. We can't guarantee that we will know about every issue in a timely manor, or that we are keeping tabs on a script or plugin that you use. Additionally, we hope to help you avoid critical issues, not spam you with every new feature release or tiny bug fix. At the end of the day, you still need to keep track of your own scripts and keep things up to date regardless of if we post about an issue here or not.

What common scripts do you think we should be watching?
