I upgraded and I must say that while it takes some getting used to, Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7.

Video card is an ATI Radeon HD 7970 and the HDD is a 256 GB OCZ Vertex4 SSD.
It runs Windows 7 quite fast, I'm doubtful I would notice a difference betwen 7 and 8 on this hardware, but IF I ever upgrade to 8, I'll post back. I know I'm not going touch-screen anytime soon so I doubt I'll go 8 anytime soon.

I took out two sticks of ram (another 8GB worth) because Corsair gave us faulty ram.

For me windows 7 is good so far. Windows 8 has perfectly been ok for the touch screens.

I don't have windows 8. The ads and early reviews inspired me to look into linux. (I still have windows 7 though.)
I have been using Lubuntu on an old XP box for a while now and I really like it. I just installed Debian Wheezy on an old iBook G4. Too early to say how well that will work.
I seriously doubt if I will ever get windows 8. I'll wait to see what they come up with next.
Installing and maintaining a server on linux is way easier than on windows! I'll never turn back on that.

Tried Windows 8 on some computers and didn't like it.

In my opinion windows 8 should stick to tablets and touch devices. It’s easier to navigate etc. I forgot my laptop charger when I was working away the other week so borrowed a laptop running windows 8, even though I like the interface I did not get on with it, Copy and pasting from the web to a document file was just a nightmare etc.
Just setting up an administrator account was hard work, not the usual way on other windows editions. I think they have a lot of work to do with the software to make it a little bit more universal on the different types of users but so far so good. I think it is going to be another vista, was ok but didn’t quite work, Let’s see windows 9 =D
On the other hand i too have been using different operating systems, Ubuntu and now i am playing around with CentOS. I like to have a wide range of experience (you never know when you need it)

It's kind of a looking old school and specially without the start button.

Tim uses Windows 8 and he gets by... I've watched him use it and it makes me cringe.
I guess I will be sticking with Windows 7 until Windows 9 comes out...

It’s much better on touch screen and also it’s not bad at all.

This thread seems to be a real magnet for spammers so I'm going to close it.
