I have never created a website

I am new to creating my own website, and figure I'm not the only "newbie" subscribing to MDDHosting. I'm posting to this forum not only to help me get started on my site, but maybe help others new to website development.

I have a small tax service business which currently provides tax prep. My site will start small, being mainly informational. I will have links where clients can download forms such as fee schedules and tax prep checklists.

As my business grows, and new services are offered, I will add more to the site.

Pretty basic. As I said, I am new to this and honestly don't know were to start.

Hello Bob :) Welcome to the forums and welcome to MDDHosting.

For a beginner I would recommend that you install WordPress - you can either follow the instructions at WordPress.org to install it manually if you want to do some learning or you can use Fantastico from within your control panel to install it automatically.

WordPress will allow you to create pages/posts/etc... without having to know anything about HTML or how web sites work in general and you can even search Google for WordPress themes to get a look and feel that you like. Ultimately if you want something totally custom you would need to have a custom theme designed but playing with WordPress is a very good way in my opinion to get into being a webmaster without the huge initial time investment that it would take to learn HTML, CSS, and generally about how webhosting works.

If you need any help installing WordPress or figuring it out let us know and we'll be more than happy to help you as much as we can!

Thanks Mike

When I said I was new, I really meant it. After installing WordPress, I did "something" to uninstall it. But I did not really uninstall it all, and now I can not reinstall it or install anything else. Is it all the wp files in file manager that need to be removed?

Bob should you ever have an issue that you need help with such as this please do not hesitate to contact the support department. You can contact us by emailing support[at]mddhosting.com (typed this way to hopefully prevent spam bots from picking the address up) or by submitting a ticket directly at https://www.mddhosting.com/support/submitticket.php.

Do you want WordPress totally removed or do you want it reinstalled and working for you?
