I've got everything rocking and rolling except for split delivery, I really dont want to pay for a gmail account for the numerous generic address I manage anyway! I think that if you change the MX records to point to Google's mail servers you are pretty much stuck with using either Gmail web access or your computer's email client. I don't know of a way to have a single email account still flow to your domain's web space and be accessible via Horde, Roundcube or SquirrelMail if you change the MX records. According to Google there is a way to point your MX records at their servers and then bounce unknown addresses (the ones that aren't set up in Gmail through Apps for business) back to your legacy mail server. So if you're managing a larger deployment of Google Apps across your organization you don't have to switch everyone all at once. In case something goes wrong... I'll keep working on it. I read their explanation, but they didn't go into detail on how to set up MX records to do it. The little screen shot they show at http://goo.gl/458IE just has a domain name specified ("mail.somedomain.com"). They do say: For a legacy mail server that is part of the same domain that uses Google Apps, create a domain alias and update the MX records for the alias domain to route email to the legacy mail server; enter the alias domain name in the Destination box. at http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=173534 I thought that sounded like you create a CNAME or A record for a subdomain or something, but it looks like you create a domain alias in Google Apps ... see http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=53295 I am actually moving customers away from Google Apps now that hosted Exchange servers are coming down in price ($4 per 25 GB mailbox direct from Microsoft, and similar pricing from Rackspace).
