[Completed] Fresco Server - Restoration Completed - File System Check Competed

Recommended Posts

after restoration we need to wait another 2-6 hours for file system check?

A file system check is indeed required, it could be as quick as 30 minutes or as slow as 6 hours. I wish I could give a more accurate ETA but there is simply no way to do that.

I like mdd they have been pretty reliable.

But this is a disaster . I have 3 clients on this server. One of which is a nightmare. Whoever has caused this should be banned from the server. I hope this gets sorted very soon.

Regards

Nobody is specifically responsible for a file system corruption.

Thanks for the update. Hope this is sorted out at the earliest.

It was a DDoS attack by hackers. Even Facebook and Twitter have been taken down by DoS attacks. That alone should provide some scale of how uncontrollable and undefended these attacks can be.

The DDoS didn't directly cause the file system corruption however, but your point is still valid about DDoS/DoS attacks.

Update at 6:28 AM GMT-5:

The file system check completed and due to the repairs done we're running an additional file system check to ensure that once the server comes back online that it is stable and doesn't have to be taken back offline for another file system check later today or in the near future.

The first check took approximately 50 minutes and we estimate the second check will take approximately the same amount of time.

It's time to counting down....

The server has checked out ok, I watched the file system check and only a few cache files (like for WordPress with SuperCache) were damaged and, as such, removed. All system files appear to be OK.

We do have some DNS updates to make for accounts that were affected by the DDoS before the file system issues occurred so some sites may show a cPanel default page for an hour or two.

Keep in mind, due to the server having just booted up, that it's likely going to be slow/sluggish for at least 10 to 20 minutes. It's got to load caches into RAM and do a lot of very I/O intensive things to get to where it's at the point of being stable.

So should the sites be back online? If so, I'm not seeing it...
