Anyone on Fresco having a page loading problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi all :)

I'm wondering if anyone else on Fresco is having any page loading problems? My users are reporting a problem where the page half loads then stops, then if they refresh a few times it will load. I am not personally having this problem but they tell me it's only with my site. Just trying to figure out if it's just something on their end. Thanks!

Your site is loading for me in Chrome, IE 9 and Firefox. (I'm not on Fresco, but had a similar problem on a VPS elsewhere).

Check your error logs in cPanel and see if there's anything there that might give you clue as to what's happening. Also check in the forum directory for a "error_log" file to see if PHP is throwing off any errors.

Generally if a page is loading half way, but not all the way, that is due to external content (i.e. something not hosted by us) that is holding/delaying things up. A plugin like FireBug for FireFox and then watching the "Net" tab would be helpful.

Here is one shot showing external content (all of which, we obviously have no control over that could slow things down/cause them to stop):

And another (higher up on the list, earlier on, so more likely to cause a larger issue):

If any of these external sources time out (i.e. they try loading and don't fail immediately) it can cause the page to stop loading up until those external connections time out. I know our server is set to 120 seconds (2 minutes) which is longer than most people will wait, so it's possible external servers will be set for long timeouts as well resulting in your page hanging up.
