Adam Posted February 23, 2011 Report Share Posted February 23, 2011 Hey all, I haven't yet switched to MDDHosting yet, but I can't wait to do so. My old host (sitecloud.com) has been a nightmare. I was with them since October of last year and held high hopes. Their service was fine for about 2 weeks, and then it began to degrade and got slower and slower. By January 1st, the servers crashed and that's when the noticed a problem . There was something wrong with the MySql servers, so all websites were down for 3 DAYS before they found a fix. From then on, websites have been faster but they still have downtime issues. All websites hosted on their servers become unresponsive for 2-10 minutes about 8-10 times a day, on average. This has been going on for months. No matter how many times I tell them there is a problem, they ignore me. They have no forums, they don't use their twitter or facebook page, they don't send any email updates. Customers of them are totally left in the dark. I have had enough of them and I am ready to switch to MDDHosting, but I have to figure out a way out of my contract and get my money back from SiteCloud. They guarantee 99.9% uptime, but they have never had a month with anything even close to that. I will post updates once I make progress with this, but once I get out from under the grips of SiteCloud, I am switching to here. Wish me luck! Often the uptime guarantees are based on their own monitoring or server logs, and the logs often show something different than you experience (for valid reasons sometimes). The responsiveness issue would not show as a server down, for instance. But, it may be worth making the move right away anyway. MDD is a very stable company, and the support is excellent. The CEO responded to me and said that I would receive my full refund and he is sorry to see me go. He said they just fixed a MySql problem which solved all the downtime issues. The problem is that he also said this 2 and a half months ago and there was still problems. It's good to know that he is involved in customer interactions, though. Just filed my first support incident so we will see how that side of the organization works, but performance has been great. Welcome aboard. Well, I finally got a response from them. Sorry for the late response. I really like the speed of the servers and the quality of the support, but I especially like that their servers rarely have downtime. So far, so good!
