Echo Not Responsive

According to the Server Status page, Echo is up, even though CPU usage is at 0%.

The Pingdom status page shows that Echo has been down for over 3 hours.

Does anyone have any information?

I don't understand why this issue was addressed on WHT and not on MDD's own forum. When there's a problem I don't go to WHT for answers, I come here. I understand that Mike was answering a question on WHM but something should have been said here too.

If I missed something, I apologize.

To be honest, I was really busy answering a lot of support tickets and overlooked this thread. The only reason I knew about the post on WHT was because it was mentioned in a ticket.

Generally if there is an issue a post is made in this section: http://forums.mddhosting.com/forum/5-server-and-network-announcements/

I woke up to a lot of email alerts/tickets/phone calls and the staff member that was supposed to be watching tickets/servers overnight never showed up and never let me know they weren't going to be working. If they had only let me know they weren't going to work, or I hadn't put my phone on silent for the first time in 3 years, the issue could have been averted but ultimately that's not what happened.

I've put measures in place to ensure nothing like this ever happens again and I apologize to anybody who experienced this issue.

Here is what anybody who opened a ticket got:

This is simply an extremely bad set of circumstances. Not only did the person who was supposed to be watching servers/notices/tickets last night not come on shift without notice but I actually was taking the night off myself to try and enjoy some sleep.

We don't pretend to be something that we're not and as such we're not afraid to tell you that we're a smaller provider. When you are a smaller provider and a staff member is supposed to be on shift and watching things and they don't do that, it can cause some very large issues such as the issues faced this morning.

We identified the issue as the backup system causing a system lockup (R1Soft) and needless to say this isn't our only frustration with R1Soft (http://www.mikedvb.com/2011/01/30/r1soft-cdp-2-0-cdp-3-0-cpanel-integration-delays-and-poor-support/).

The server was rebooted as soon as I came on shift this morning and I'm definitely going to look into why the staff member that was supposed to be watching things overnight didn't show up. Everything on the server is now online and functioning as it should once again.

If you have any questions / comments / concerns at all do let us know. I certainly understand any frustration and issues this may have caused.
