[Completed] Emergency Maintenance on Echo Server

Recommended Posts

We are performing emergency maintenance on the Echo server. The estimated downtime is approximately 1 hour and we are currently planning this to be completed by 10:30 AM EST (GMT-5).

The Echo server is experiencing File System issues and needs a file system check immediately to prevent any permanent damage. This check will take approximately 1 hour and during this time your accounts will be inaccessible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns by all means please feel free to comment on this post.

We will update this post with updates as they happen.

Update: 9:45 AM EST (GMT-5): The file system check has finished and services have been fully restored at this time.

Update - Emergency Hardware Replacement

We expect this to take no longer than 1.5 hours beginning at 2:30 AM EST and ending at 4 AM EST.

It seems that the issue from earlier today may be a hardware related issue and as such we are bringing the server offline to replace the Hardware Raid Controller and are going to run a file system check after swapping the hardware to make sure everything is in good shape and remains online.

This will take approximately 1 and a half hours and during this time your accounts will be inaccessible.

We estimate the maintenance to be completed no later than 4 AM GMT-5 (EST).

By all means please feel free to comment on this post with any questions/comments/concerns you may have.

Update – 3:15 AM EST (GMT-5): The file system check did detect and repair some errors so we are running it again just to make sure that there are no residual issues. We want this to be the last time that we have to do this on this server. We are still looking at a finishing time of around 4 AM EST (GMT-5) at this point.

Update - 4:00 AM EST (GMT-5): The hardware was replaced and a file system check completed and all services are now once again online. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused however the actions taken were necessary to ensure the stability of the server.
