Upgrading MariaDB to version 10.6

Recommended Posts

We will be performing upgrades of MariaDB to version 10.6 on the following servers:

S0, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, P1, P2, R1, R2, R3, and R4.

The expected MySQL downtime is anywhere between a couple of minutes upwards of 10 minutes.  The result of these upgrades is higher performance and lower latency as well as better consistency from MariaDB.

We will be performing these updates off-peak - between the hours of 12 AM and 8 AM Eastern Time within the coming days.

We will post updates to this thread as we get started and finish with each server.

The first stage of the upgrade on S1 is completed.  Stage 2 will begin shortly where we step through the versions up to 10.6.  We will follow the same process for all servers.  It is worth noting that the MySQL downtime is not continuous during the entire maintenance period.
