  1. "It just depends on what version of PHP WordPress supports. WordPress would be the best ones to answer this but personally I'd stick to no newer than 5.4 unless you have a specific reason for wanting 5.5. That said - if you try 5.5, make sure all aspects of your site work." Thanks for the advice Mike! I would have just went with 5.5. I will proceed cautiously.
  2. Hi Mike, That makes sense. Can you check out this screen shot & let me know I'm doing the filter correctly? Thanks!
  3. I'm coming onto this thread a bit late. I have been a personal MDD client for years and through my business of Internet Marketing & Webdesign I refer my clients to MDD. WHY??? Because over the years I have been treated to some of the best customer service by MDD that lived up to their initial great reviews I read way back when. I love that Mike the OWNER of MDD personally responds to issues and compliants on the forum. Good luck on any other "famous" host. See above on this thread & other threads on this forum. I love that MDD has always had the *alls to email me that there was an issue on a server. Most other hosts hope you don't catch the glitch and pretend it didn't happen. I love that MDD is a PITA about updating scripts. It just ensures that the server is better secured for all. I love that when stuff goes down Mike & staff is always professional and helpful. I have literally watched Mike checking in every couple of hours over a 48hr server crash due to DOS attack. He and his staff have always exceeded every other webhost I encounter with clients. I can think of several right now recently that either never respond to support requests or the answer is basically a non-answer. I have not always been a easy support request for MDD. I am quite certain the MDD staff probably uses a perjorative term in response to my requests. When I have a client screaming down my neck I need answers quickly. MDD has ALWAYS been professional and prompt. Do I ever expect overnight response... not unless it is a downed server... which I might add MDD has contacted me first normally with a server issue. Any other issue can wait till normal business hours. I have not experienced the "out sourced" tech support, but I do believe that as a business owner that oftentimes there are periods when you do have to resort to either the fastest solution or a cost cutting technique in order to get the business to the next level. People who have never experienced the "Holy Smokes! Support requests are coming in faster than we can handle them" can feel smug in their warm contentment of never having to make a difficult choice : A: remain altruistic - we will get to the request when we can, those we get to are happy -> the rest hate us for ignoring them. B: go out sourced and weed out the stuff that wastes our tech's time therefore ticking off the least amount of people & actually helping more due to lessened basic quesions.. Only a growing company can continue to reinvest in faster equipment & keep rates stable, website quality terms and low server usage (cough, cough... server stuffers out there). MDD add's to their servers unlike other "famous" webhosts who treat their servers like a 3rd world tenament. As with any growing company MDD most likely became crunched between "customer questions need & ability to answer those questions". It takes time to build up an educated staff, so often times in order to fill the knowledge gap an owner has to choose outsourcing. As Mike stated above the outsourcing did not work and new personal is being trained. There is always a growing period. Anyhoo - My 2 Cents Leah Rae
  4. Hello, I didn't want to open a support ticket for what might be a simple issue or potentially helpful to others. I have a client who has 2 accounts which are rapidly filling up the quota despite my efforts. Account 1: Mail forward. Other mail forwards on the account hang on to email until I manually delete & purge them in horde / round cube when I do monthly maintenance. Zero email shows in the online account, but the cpanel is showing over 200mb in the account & growing. Account 2. Outlook mail set for delete on download. Outlook & mail account is setup exactly as the other mail accounts. Zero email is showing in the online account (horde & round cube), but cpanel is showing over 100mb in the account. I did try deleting the mail tmp files from cpanel's file manager for both acounts & no change. It's really odd because it's happening to 2 completely seperate types of mail accounts (email & a email forward) yet not affecting any other email accounts or email forwards. Thanks for your help!
  5. Ditto on Sarislsop's questions. I've been getting concerned questions since last night from the client websites I service. The best I can do is tell them that upgrading is always a good thing as it adds functionality and fixes to the previous version. My concern is: 1. If Wordpress is 3.6.1 -> Should I go with PHP 5.5 as it most likely is the best choice. 2. If I choose PHP 5.5 & things go wonky... can I revert back to the original PHP version that worked? Thanks for any insight the MDD team might have.
  6. Pretty big coincedence - especially since I was in the backend of 2 within the past 48hrs & unless I was in a fugue state... I did not change the passwords. Just thought I would give a heads up Have a great weekend.
  7. Some of my clients Cpanels were disabled and I am getting a login is invalid message. 3 clients had the default "admin" - 1 did not. I cannot access all 4 Cpanels. I have verified that all the account usernames and passwords are correct. However, I can access 2 via FTP. Anyhoo, I will be opening up tickets for all 4 but I wanted to give a heads up that maybe MDD should send a followup message for everyone to verify their Cpanel logins. Thanks!
  8. Thank you for all of your help & advice!!!!!! Leah
  9. Hello again, Another round of questions that are probably obvious, but I'm a tad clueless about. Moving to a new host is new to me. Probably over thinking it & making it way more complicated. I'd like to transfer my existing domain that I currently just use for email but would like to build a blog on it. I've built ton's for clients, it's time I did my own. I was impressed by all the reviews & how fast the response was on the forum & on a Friday night night no less. So I decided to use my site as a ****** Pig before I transfer any client sites. (I swear that is not a curse word, but rather a reference to the small furry pet aka Cavy) 1. Since my domain is up for renewal at my current host in less than a week 3-25-2010, & I am too impatient to wait. When I transfer my domain here, will it still be renewed at my current host? 2. In order to transfer my domain name do I have to first unlock it? I ask this because when I selected this option, it showed my domain as available. That is impossible, it's up for renewal 3-25-2010 & there is a grace period for redemption after that. 3. If I have to "Point the name servers" rather than just use the "transfer domain name" option. How exactly do I do that without making a big mistake? I've looked at other hosts help articles (godaddy, host gator, blue host, etc) & am little bit more confused about how to do this as they all differ a little bit. Once again thank you!!!!!!! & have a wonderful evening!!!!!!!
  10. Holy cow!!!!!!!! The folks on WHT weren't kidding, your on top of this site. I really appreciate the response! Sounds good. We don't spam. But our email address on the site & on various manufacturing directories get tons of spam. Mainly angry demands in pigeon English that we partner with their offshore manufacturing facility. Quite funny actually. I am not familiar with SpamAssasin. If I understand correctly, my users would still receive the spam in the inbox, but it would be marked ****SPAM**** in the subject line. Or would it go into a spam folder? Currently the users get a daily spam report email. They can look it over for false positives. I retrieve the email & put the sender on the white list. This occurs maybe 1 or 2 x's a month. If they were sending spam, they wouldn't be a user anymore With the exception of 1 or 2 users, none can access a webmail based spam box to check for spam. & I don't have time to check each & every box for spam every day. I am also unsure about IMAP. If I understand it correctly, setting it up on a email client like Outlook will allow the user to download from the spam folder just like regular pop3? If this is the case, then my worries about missing a potential customer email is moot. Sorry if I was unclear. I'm just looking for the easiest solution to get my users their email, make it easy to retrieve false positives, & get the website on a real host. Currently it's with 1and1. I'd just make the server an exchange server, but I don't have the time to learn. It's all about marketing the website & getting customers. Have a wonderful evening. & once again thank you! Leah
  11. Hello, I've look over this forum & the knowledgebase & haven't seen this covered. However its very possible I missed the info. If I did overlook it Mea Culpa 1. Spam. Do you have any sort of filtering? Whitelists? Blacklists? 2. How would my users be notified of possible spam? Customers send data constantly (manufacturing facility). Its unreasonable to expect users to constantly be logging into a webmail account. Webmail is in fact impossible for the vast majority of users have internet disabled for their accounts on the server. 3. Is Imap the solution to #2? If so, how is it implemented? Thanks a bunch! Leah
