  1. After I sent an email, I got a delivery error message back above, and I don't know what it means. Normally, I would look up the error code, but I don't see one here. I was wondering if his is a "receiving" error on their end, or a "sending" error on my end. If it's on their end, then I don't really care. But if it's on my end, then I do. Admittedly, the email address I was sending it to was an old business contact, which I wouldn't be surprised if it was dead email by now.
  2. Do you run all your sites off of a single shared hosting account here? What kind of "visitors/page views/bandwidth" do you use monthly?
  3. One of the problems with plugins and themes is not that the user is not keeping them up-to-date, it is because the original coder who issued the plugin does not issue updates to offer secure versions .From a security standpoint, there is a large concentration on keeping script up-to-date, but I think there should be a greater recognition among the webmaster community about the security risk in using "aged code", which hasn't been updated in 5 years. Side question (for Mike or anyone else). Is there a reason why a XenForo forum (in general) would not be supported? Isn't it just a regular forum built on PHP/MySQL, or is there more to the requirements than that?
  4. On Dec 2th, I received the email letting me know that you guys were updated the servers ("MDDHosting - Big Upgrades - New Hardware, New Network, More Reliability"). It said that I would be receiving another email right before, and after, the upgrades, just letting me know they were being started/finished. But I never received those emails. Were the upgrades done (I am on Demeter). I'm not complaining - just wondering. thanks
  5. My incoming email wasn't working for a while. I was playing around with the email settings in cPanel, and noticed my "MX Entry" settings were set to "Automatically Detect Configuration" (which is recommended), and I switched it to "Local Mail Exchanger". And now it is working. I also had "MX Records" (for priority and destination) were: 10 - scanner01.mail.supportedns.com 20 - scanner02.mail.supportedns.com I was wondering if these settings are OK, and if the old settings were wrong? thanks
  6. Ever since the upgrade to the new Demeter server, I have had a delay on any outgoing email. Here are the details: * It is only outgoing mail. * It is only using IMAP with Thunderbird. * The delay is EXACTLY 20 seconds. I found this odd. I have tested it about 20 times over the course of 2 weeks. I don't know much about email records (SPF, or MX) and I don't know if they make a difference...but I don't think I have any SPF records, and my MX records with settings of "10" and "20".
  7. What about password-protected directories that I renamed? It appears that CPanel was smart enough to keep them protected, but I noticed that the protected directories have htaccess files in them that have the old path coded in them when the directories were initially protected. Is this code just incidental?
  8. You mean if I hardcoded an absolute path in a random script somewhere?
  9. If I change the name of the folder that acts as the document root of an add-on domain, is this going to break any scripts (because the path changes, etc)?
  10. That's so true. Having 24/7 support from a typical hosting company is like having a diner right down the street from your house that is open 24 hours, but has really sh*tty food.
  11. Is there a way to make MySQL automatically spellcheck when you are editing a text field? I remember it used to do this, but after a recent upgrade it doesn't do it anymore.
  12. The "downriver Michigan" niche was never a particularly easy one to monetize.
  13. It would usually be for a full day, but I'm not sure if that is still long enough to get hit with SEO penalties and Google deletions. I will probably try the "Forward all IP addresses except my own" option.
  14. From an analytics standpoint, I was wondering how the new MDD design compares to the old design when it comes to sales conversions (conversion per visitor, conversions per page view, etc)?
  15. Since we are on the subject, is there a way to forward all traffic to the home page while still having an admin have access to the site? I ask this because there are times where I need to work on my site while it's live but I don't want visitors viewing the site. I know I could password protect pages, but I would want SEO visitors who are coming to a random page being hit with a password prompt.
