On my website I originally had : www.homepage/how-to-do-thiswww.homepage/how-to-do-thatetc. Eventually I had more "how to do's" so made a new "tips" page to list them, and was expecting the following result for URL's : www.homepage/tips/how-to-do-thiswww.homepage/tips/how-to-do-thatetc. ...but instead got : www.homepage/tips from which you can go to: www.homepage/how-to-do-thiswww.homepage/how-to-do-thatetc. Which is even better with URL's not changed (otherwise I was expecting to need to to 301 redirects). I'm pleased with it but would just like to know whether my original assumption was wrong, or, could the result have gone either way (as I have seen other websites with similar to the URL structure) and if so what was it dependant on?
