This isn't a show-stopper if you don't (most hosts don't yet), but I'm interested in the new Ghost blogging platform. Are you guys XenForo friendly? The first site I'm planning on bringing over is a low traffic family forum running on XenForo but I'm having a devil of a time with my existing two hosts; one won't support it and the other one does but has server issues once a month like clockwork. Last question. I see you offer SSH access. Is this full command line access to where I can do MySQL database dumps for backup? I haven't seen anybody ask for it before today so I'll have an admin look into the possibility of adding it but it just depends on how difficult it is to keep maintained. I'd like an alternative to WordPress for blogging as my previous host had some fairly serious problems with multiple users WordPress sites being hacked. Michael D. Posted October 4, 2016 Report Share Posted October 4, 2016 Ghost requires Node.js which we do not currently support. When it comes to WordPress getting hacked - it is a pretty big target. The keys are keeping it up to date and all plugins and themes in-use up-to-date and not-in-use removed. More often than not we see an outdated default theme that gets hacked - like the Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve, or Twenty Thirteen themes. stocktrader Posted October 10, 2016 Report Share Posted October 10, 2016 One of the problems with plugins and themes is not that the user is not keeping them up-to-date, it is because the original coder who issued the plugin does not issue updates to offer secure versions .From a security standpoint, there is a large concentration on keeping script up-to-date, but I think there should be a greater recognition among the webmaster community about the security risk in using "aged code", which hasn't been updated in 5 years. Side question (for Mike or anyone else). Is there a reason why a XenForo forum (in general) would not be supported? Then direct your browser to the URL that corresponds withthat location.Once you have checked the results from the script, it is recommended that youremove the file. stocktrader Posted October 31, 2016 Report Share Posted October 31, 2016 I run a very small XenForo forum on MDD. It has always run without issue. When I had 15-20 concurrent users the board ran just fine. Once your north of ~40-50 concurrent users you need to start looking at higher end shared hosting (Premium Hosting) or a VPS. Generally, speaking all my sites hosted here run without issue. One time a client of mine failed to update his WP theme. He was hacked and his account was sending spam. Support was great about working with me to bring the site back online after I cleaned it up. Do you run all your sites off of a single shared hosting account here?
