I just signed up for MDD hosting and would like to eventually get my Domain name transfered:

1. I see the cost of a transfer is $14.95. Is that just the transfer cost or do I get a year of domain name "rent" included with the transfer?
2. What if I have time left with my old registrar. Does that time left transfer over too or do we start over again and loose that prepaid time?

I cannot speak for MDD but standard practice is a year gets added to the expiration date when you transfer in that case your time does transfer.
Good News: I just saved a bunch of money on my hosting by switching to MDD!

It's industry wide - when you transfer it does include a one year renewal by default and it extends off of the current expiration date (not based off of when you transfer it).
