We identified the problem as a compromised account (not a server-level compromise, but just a careless user with an outdated script) that had some hacking/DoS tools uploaded that were used. This caused an outage and within 60 seconds we identified that there was an issue and within 180 seconds have disabled the account and service should return to normal.
