We have identified a potential risk in our PHP 5.3.6 installations and we are remedying these issues. All scripts currently being run as PHP 5.3.6 will be executed as PHP 5.2.17 until this upgrade is completed, which should take no longer than 20 to 30 minutes.

If you have any questions, let us know.

Can you tell us what the potential risk was? (after you fix it, of course ;)

We just identified a situation which could allow a user to crash the web server software. The impact would be minimal as the software would restart on it's own almost instantly but it could stop any active downloads and if done repeatedly in quick succession could actually crash the whole server itself. We're just playing it safe and updating to fix the issue.

Keep in mind this is not an issue specifically with php 5.3.6 but with how we have it configured on our servers. It's requiring a fresh reinstall to clear up the issue.

So, it shouldn't affect those of us with 5.3.6 on a VPS? I updated through WHM's EasyApache a while back.

No. This has been done so I'm going to mark this as completed.
